SUMMARY:Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) Operator Training (Open Enrollment)
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an open-enrollment Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) Operator training course at our Glasgow office! \n\nTraining Objective: The primary objective of this training course is to ensure trainees are aware of MEWP safe operation requirements\, applicable standards and regulations\, and recognition and avoidance of various hazards associated with MEWPs. Trainees will be able to demonstrate their ability to maneuver a MEWP safely and efficiently.\nDelivery Method(s): Classroom Lecture\, Practical Training\, and Performance Evaluations\nMinimum Class Size: 5\nMaximum Class Size: 10\nDelivery Method: Classroom Lecture\, Practical Demonstration\, and Performance Evaluation\nPrerequisites: Since trainees will be required to wear a personal fall protection equipment (e.g.\, full body harness\, lanyard/SRD)\, each trainee must have successfully completed a “Fall Protection – Authorized Person” training course (or equivalent) prior to attending this course.\nCertification: 3 Years\n\nCourse Outline \n\nIntroduction\, outline\, and provision for practice operation\nIntroduction to applicable OSHA and ANSI A92 standards\nTraining requirements\nTraining vs. familiarization\nRoles and responsibilities\nKnowing your aerial lift and the importance of reading the operator’s manual\nThe “big four” safety issues including tip-over\, fall\, collision and electrocution\nBasic components and typical control layouts\nSite-specific workplace assessment\nMEWP selection\nLoad capacities\nMEWP-specific fall protection requirements\nOperation of emergency ground controls\nGround conditions\nWeather-related dangers\nPedestrian safety\nOperating in tight areas\nBasic operational issues\nTraveling rules\nHow to avoid damage to the equipment and facilities\nProper parking\nOperation on ramps\nFueling procedures\nPersonal protective equipment (PPE)\nInspection requirements\nPlanning for a rescue\nANSI standard changes\n\nSkills/Performance Evaluations  \n\nTrainees will conduct and document a pre-start inspection on various MEWPs.\nTrainees will operate a scissor lift (Type 3\, Group A MEWP) and aerial lift (Type 3\, Group B MEWP) and be evaluated on their overall safe operations and compliance with applicable OSHA and ANSI A92 standards. Evaluation criteria includes\, but is not limited to:\n\nSafe mounting and dismounting of a MEWP;\nOperating a MEWP from upper and lower control panels;\nOperating in a safe\, efficient manner;\nProper boom operation;\nClearance with overhead power lines;\nOperating MEWPs in enclosed (confined) spaces; and\nDemonstrating to the instructor that the student has basic familiarity and confidence in safe operation of the MEWP.\n\n\n\nTo register\, call/text (270) 670-4718 or email us at training@arrowsafetyus.com.
