We are looking for a dynamic, knowledgeable Part-Time Safety Specialist based in the Glasgow, KY area who thrives in front of an audience and is ready to bring world-class safety solutions to our customers, wherever they are.
This role heavily emphasizes delivering high-impact occupational safety and health (OSH) training to our customers. While training makes up the vast majority of your responsibilities, you will also serve as a well-rounded consultant by conducting audits/inspections, developing policies/procedures, and conducting other OSH-related tasks based on company or customer needs.
Because Arrow Safety serves a diverse, global clientele, this position requires a strong willingness to travel—ranging from local visits to trips across Kentucky and throughout the country. However, when you aren’t traveling or on-site with a client, there is potential for remote work depending on current company and/or customer needs.
This position offers excellent flexibility, averaging 20–30 hours per week, though exact hours will fluctuate depending on training schedules and project demands. Work schedule is typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. However, occasional night shift and/or weekend travel may be required based on customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead dynamic, engaging OSH-related training sessions for diverse client workforces. You must be able to hold an audience’s attention and communicate complex regulations clearly.
- Conduct comprehensive OSH-related site audits and inspections at client facilities to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Develop and/or review OSH-related written policies and procedures.
- Utilize Microsoft Office to build professional training presentations, create and upload documents to the company server (Dropbox), and write detailed audit/inspection reports.
- Participate in all internal professional development activities.
- Must promote a safe and healthy workplace at all times.
- Be ethical and maintain the highest level of integrity at all times.
- Other responsibilities as required by Arrow Safety and/or customer needs.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education/Experience: A degree in Occupational Safety and Health (or an equivalent field) OR 2+ years of proven full-time experience in a dedicated safety role (e.g., Safety Manager, Safety Coordinator, Safety Director, Safety Specialist) is required -* NO EXCEPTIONS*.
- Certifications/Credentials: GSP designation, ASP certification, CSP certification, and/or completion of OSHA #510/#511 course is preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1910 and 1926 standards is required.
- Travel Flexibility: Must be willing and able to travel (25%-50%). This includes local travel, statewide travel across Kentucky, and domestic travel across the country as required by client projects.
- Public Speaking: Exceptional communication and presentation skills are required. You must be comfortable, confident, and highly engaging when speaking in front of groups.
- Technical Skills: Must be competent in Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and basic computer skills for creating reports, tracking data, and developing training materials.
- Soft Skills: Must be honest, dependable, responsible, and able to be relied upon to fulfill obligations by the required deadlines.
- Logistics: Must be based in or near Glasgow, KY (within a 30-minute drive of our Glasgow office) with a valid U.S. driver’s license. No per diem or relocation expenses will be provided.
- Work Authorization: Must be a U.S. citizen, authorized to work in the United States, and be able to pass a background check and drug test.
