Join us for an open-enrollment Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) Operator training course at our Glasgow office!

  • Training Objective: The primary objective of this training course is to ensure trainees are aware of MEWP safe operation requirements, applicable standards and regulations, and recognition and avoidance of various hazards associated with MEWPs. Trainees will be able to demonstrate their ability to maneuver a MEWP safely and efficiently.
  • Delivery Method(s): Classroom Lecture, Practical Training, and Performance Evaluations
  • Minimum Class Size: 5
  • Maximum Class Size: 10

  • Prerequisites: Since trainees will be required to wear a personal fall protection equipment (e.g., full body harness, lanyard/SRD), each trainee must have successfully completed a “Fall Protection – Authorized Person” training course (or equivalent) prior to attending this course.
  • Certification: 3 Years

Skills/Performance Evaluations

  • Trainees will conduct and document a pre-start inspection on various MEWPs.
  • Trainees will operate a scissor lift (Type 3, Group A MEWP) and aerial lift (Type 3, Group B MEWP) and be evaluated on their overall safe operations and compliance with applicable OSHA and ANSI A92 standards. Evaluation criteria includes, but is not limited to:
    • Safe mounting and dismounting of a MEWP;
    • Operating a MEWP from upper and lower control panels;
    • Operating in a safe, efficient manner;
    • Proper boom operation;
    • Clearance with overhead power lines;
    • Operating MEWPs in enclosed (confined) spaces; and
    • Demonstrating to the instructor that the student has basic familiarity and confidence in safe operation of the MEWP.
