Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Operator Training*

In this course, trainees will learn the basic fundamentals of essential powered industrial truck operations. This in-person course lasts approximately 4 to 6 hours (depending on the number of people in the course, as well as previous experience, and a number of other factors), and includes a classroom lecture, practical demonstrations, and operator performance evaluations. Topics covered in the course include, but are not limited to:

  • OSHA and ANSI Requirements
  • ​Different types of PITs
  • Hazards involved with PITs
  • Common causes of PIT-related incidents
  • Basic controls and operation
  • Traveling procedures
  • Pedestrian safety
  • Refueling and recharging procedures
  • Attachments

Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) Operator Training*

In this course, trainees will learn the basic fundamentals of how to operate a mobile elevating work platform (MEWP), which includes aerial lifts and scissor lifts. This in-person course lasts approximately 4 to 6 hours (depending on the number of people in the course, as well as previous experience, and a number of other factors), and includes a classroom lecture, practical demonstrations, and operator performance evaluations. Topics covered in the course include, but are not limited to:

  • OSHA and ANSI Requirements

PIT/MEWP Operator Combination Course*

In this course, trainees will learn how to safely and effectively operate a powered industrial truck (PIT) and a mobile elevating work platform (MEWP). This in-person, combination course lasts approximately 6 to 8 hours (depending on the number of people in the course, as well as previous experience, and a number of other factors), and includes a classroom lecture, practical demonstrations, and operator performance evaluations. *Must be at least seven (7) students per course. Powered industrial truck (PIT) and mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) operator certifications are issued through Arrow Safety, LLC and are valid for three (3) years from the date of the training.

Mobile Equipment Train-the-Trainer (TTT) Course

+$400-$450 USD for each additional student

Prerequisites: Each student must be a trained and authorized equipment operator for the course they are are wanting to teach (e.g., powered industrial truck (PIT) and/or mobile elevating work platform (MEWP)).

This course is designed for advanced mobile equipment operators and safety professionals who want to become in-house trainers. This in-person course lasts approximately 8 to 12 hours (depending on the number of people in the course, as well as previous experience, and a number of other factors), and includes a classroom lecture, practical demonstrations, and trainer evaluations. The course will cover proper instruction and teaching methodologies, ANSI Z490.1 standards, and industry best practices for conducting mobile equipment operator courses. Each course participant will be required to conduct a short presentation, as well as evaluate a mobile equipment operator for safe operations. 

Courses options include:

  • Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Train-the-Trainer
    • $600 for the first student, then $400 for each additional student thereafter. Price does not include any applicable travel expenses.
    • All seven classes of powered industrial trucks are covered, but the course is focused on the class(es) at your location.
  • Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP) Train-the-Trainer
    • $650 for the first student, then $450 for each additional student thereafter. Price does not include any applicable travel expenses.
    • The course covers both aerial lifts and scissor lifts, but is focused on the specific model(s) at your location.
