Recorded: September 25, 2021

Presenter(s): Drew Hinton (Arrow Safety)

Hosted By: Safeopedia

Sponsored By: ComplianceQuest

Dealing with a large release of hazardous materials can be a daunting task. Who do you need to notify? How are you going to recover your losses? What will it do to your company’s public image? While all of these are valid questions that need to be answered, they all play a factor in a much large question – how are you going to stop the release? In this webinar, we will discuss how to evaluate local Fire Department and/or HazMat Team capabilities. While some situations may be best suited for leaving it to the “professionals”, other cases may be able to be handled by a properly trained internal HazMat Team consisting of your own employees. Determining if your organization can benefit from an internal HazMat Team can reap huge benefits if done correctly. It’s all a matter of knowing which questions to ask. What’s the worst that could happen?

Learning Objectives After this webinar, attendees will have a better understanding of how to:

  • Evaluate local Fire Department and/or HazMat Team capabilities
  • Perform a risk-benefit analysis relating to chemical emergencies in various industries
  • Establish an internal HazMat Team to respond to various types of chemical emergencies
  • Create a site-specific emergency response plan based on site-specific hazards

Air Monitoring 101: Understanding the Basics

Recorded: September 27, 2024

Presenter(s): Drew Hinton (Arrow Safety)

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! That’s all you have to listen for, right? Not quite! Whether it’s for confined space operations, HAZMAT response, excavations, or just basic leak detection, a meter is only as good as the person operating it. Without a general understanding of how your meter operates, what it detects (and what it doesn’t), as well as what it’s telling you (and what it isn’t), you can be unknowingly be placing yourself or your coworkers in danger. Regardless of whether it’s a Drager, MSA, RKI, or any other brand of meter, they all operate off the same principles, and it’s critical that you understand them.

During this 1-hour webinar, we will help you navigate basic air monitoring terminology, operations, maintenance, and interpretation of results. Topics covered will include, but not be limited to:

  • Active vs. Passive/Diffusion
  • Bump Testing vs. Calibration
  • Various sensor technologies
  • Correction factors and cross sensititives
  • Gas tester responsibilities
  • Applicable standards, regulations, and best practices
  • AND MUCH MORE!
